The following is the curriculum for the intensive 12-week course: Week 1

  • Alphabet
  • Pronunciation and spelling
  • Personal pronouns: I, you, he, she, we and they
  • Verbs: to be, to have

Week 2

  • Question form using ‘to be’ and ‘to have’
  • Nouns, articles, and plural nouns
  • Demonstratives: this, that, those
  • Forms of address: Mr., Mrs. Etc

Week 3

  • Present tense verbs: forming the present tense
  • Common verbs
  • Questions: where, what, when, who and why

Week 4

  • Word order
  • Negation
  • Use of definite article
  • Commands
  • Object pronouns: me, you, him etc

Week 5

  • Reflexive pronouns: yourself, myself etc
  • Reflexive verbs
  • Possessive adjectives: his, my, your etc
  • Expressing possession
  • Perfect tense: I took… etc
  • Continuation of common verbs

Week 6

  • Past participles of verbs
  • Forming the perfect tense
  • Irregular verbs

Week 7

  • Adjectives
  • Comparisons of adjectives: larger, smaller etc
  • Superlative of adjectives: largest, smallest etc
  • Adverbs
  • Diminutives

Week 8

  • Adjectives (+s)
  • Adjectives as nouns
  • Modal verbs: may, must, can
  • Separable verbs
  • Prefixes

Week 9

  • Future tense + talking about the future
  • Verbs in the infinitive form

Week 10

  • Coordinating and subordinating conjunctions
  • Past tense: ‘to be’ and ‘to have’
  • Use of past tense and forming the past tense

Week 11

  • Continuation of past perfect and conditional
  • Expressions of time
  • Useful phrases

Week 12

  • Revision of course
